Pairing a $179 inflatable game with a bouncy castle gives older kids their own activity. The line at the castle gets shorter, and it usually costs less than moving up to a bigger unit.
Choosing
Bouncy castle, combo, obstacle course or water slide: which should you rent?
Choose by your space, your guest count and how old your crowd is. A bouncy castle (also called a bounce house or jumping castle) suits smaller yards and younger kids. A combo adds a slide for mixed ages, an obstacle course suits big groups and competitive kids, and a water slide is the summer crowd-pleaser.

One open bouncing area. Easy to supervise, fits most backyards and is the go-to for a first birthday rental.
- Best for
- Backyard birthdays, younger kids
- Space
- 15 × 15 ft to 17 × 19 ft
- Price
- $249–$319

Combo unit
A bounce area plus a slide, and sometimes a basketball hoop or climb. Keeps a wider age range busy for longer.

- Mixed ages, bigger parties
- Space
- 17 × 19 ft to 28 × 18 ft

- Schools, camps, teens and adults
- Space
- 34 to 52 ft long, 12–13 ft wide
- Price
- $499–$789

- Price

How to check your yard in five minutes
- Measure the flat area. Measure length and width with a tape measure, then compare with the space needed in the table.
- Look up. Make sure the height in the table is clear of branches, power lines and overhangs.
- Find your outlet. It should be within 50 ft. Units that need two circuits need two outlets on separate breakers.
- Check the way in. Our crew needs a clear path from the street to the setup spot.
- Not sure? Text a photo of the area to (416) 316-9857 and we'll tell you what fits.
Setup requirements
Where can you set up a bouncy castle?
Bouncy castles can be set up on grass, pavement or a suitable indoor surface. The area must be level, clear of debris and free of overhead hazards, with a standard outlet within 50 ft. How we anchor the unit depends on the surface.
Grass
We anchor the unit with long steel stakes. This is the most common backyard setup.
Tell us before setup if there are underground utilities, irrigation lines or anything else within 36 inches of the surface. If you're not sure what's under your lawn, Ontario One Call arranges free utility locates.
Pavement & driveways
We can't stake into asphalt or concrete, so the unit is anchored with sandbags or water bags (extra cost).
Many school yards and parking lots work well. Some city parks don't allow staking at all, so weights are the only option there.
Indoors
Gyms, halls and event spaces work if the floor is suitable and the ceiling is high enough. Check the height in the space-needed column.
Indoor setups are anchored with sandbags. Let us know about the venue when you book.
Power
You'll need a standard outlet within 50 ft. We supply the blower and a 50 ft cord. Water slides, the Mega Mansion and the 47 ft course need two separate circuits. Don't run two blowers off one breaker.
No power at your site? We can arrange a generator for an extra charge.
Water (wet units only)
Wet rentals need an outdoor tap within 25 ft of the inflatable. We bring a 25 ft hose. If your tap is farther away, have your own hose ready.
Never put water on a dry-only castle. Only units labelled "Wet N' Dry" are built for it.
Ontario rules
Do you need a TSSA-licensed bouncy castle?
It depends on where the inflatable is set up. For a party at your own home, no. For a school, church, park, business or any public event in Ontario, yes.
Ontario regulates bouncy castles, combos, obstacle courses and inflatable slides as amusement devices under Ontario Regulation 221/01. The Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) enforces it.
At a private home
Regulation doesn't apply- Covers a house and its land, when the inflatable is used only by the people who live there and their guests.
- Typical backyard birthday parties fall here.
- You still need adult supervision and safe setup. A reputable, insured rental company matters.
Everywhere else
TSSA licence required- Includes schools, churches, parks, offices, community centres, festivals and private events held at those places.
- The operator needs a TSSA licence, and every inflatable needs its own TSSA permit.
- Trained attendants must supervise the inflatables. One attendant can watch only one inflatable at a time.
TSSA's guidance says private events at churches, schools and parks don't qualify for the private-dwelling exemption. A members-only church picnic or a class party at school still needs a licensed operator.
Booking for a park? Check your city's rules too
Most GTA municipalities need a permit for inflatables in public parks, and many have their own insurance and anchoring rules. Here's what three local cities publish:
Brampton
- TSSA licence and a permit for each device
- $5M liability insurance, with the City added as an additional insured
- No staking in the ground
Oakville
- TSSA licence, a permit for each device and a certified operator on site
- $5M insurance certificate naming the Town
- Weights only, no staking
Mississauga
- List inflatables on your park event permit application
- An event coordinator from the city's Outdoor Events Team reviews the request
Toronto, Vaughan, Richmond Hill and other cities have their own park permit processes. Ask the city's parks or events office before you book. The event organizer is responsible for getting the permits and approvals the property owner or municipality requires.
How Jumbo Jumps helps: We're licensed by the TSSA and carry $5 million in liability insurance. We can also provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) when your school, city or venue asks for one. Tell us it's a public event when you book, and we'll confirm the documents you need.
Party-day safety
Bouncy castle safety rules that actually matter
A safe bouncy castle party comes down to a few habits: an adult watching at all times, kids of similar size bouncing together and a limit on how many are inside at once.
- An adult watches at all timesPick one adult per shift whose only job is the inflatable.
- Group by sizeManufacturers generally recommend about 5–6 kids of similar size at once in a bounce house. Rotate big kids and little kids.
- One rider per slide laneWait until the bottom is clear. On obstacle courses, follow the per-lane limit for the unit.
- Shoes off, pockets emptyNo shoes, glasses, jewellery or anything sharp on the vinyl.
- No food, drinks or gumKeep snacks at the party table, not on the bounce floor.
- No flips or wrestlingBounce, slide and climb. Save the somersaults for the grass.
- Leave the blower aloneKeep the blower and cord clear of play. Never switch it off while anyone is inside.
- Wind picks up? Everyone outGet everyone off, then call or text us. Don't wait for gusts to get stronger.

Timing
When should you book a bouncy castle in Ontario?
Book as soon as your date is set, especially for Saturdays and Sundays from June through August. Demand is seasonal. In Ontario, search interest in bouncy castles and bounce houses climbs from midwinter, nearly triples between February and June, and peaks in July. By September it's back to about half of the July peak.
Spring and fall dates usually give you more choice. Schools planning June fun fairs and companies planning summer family days should lock in their dates in the spring.

FAQ
Bouncy castle rental FAQs
How much does it cost to rent a bouncy castle in Toronto?
Bouncy castle rentals at Jumbo Jumps start at $249 for your event day. Combo units with a slide cost $299 to $449, obstacle courses cost $499 to $789, water slides cost $629 and inflatable games cost $179. The final price depends on the inflatable, wet or dry use, the setup surface and your event location. You'll see the delivery fee for your postal code at checkout, before you pay.
Is a bouncy castle rental charged by the hour?
No. Jumbo Jumps prices cover your event day, not an hourly rate. Our crew delivers and sets up the inflatable before your event and takes it down afterwards.
How much space do I need for a bouncy castle?
Our smallest bouncy castles need a flat area of 15 × 15 ft with 17 ft of clear space overhead. Most castles and combos need 17 × 19 ft to 28 × 18 ft. Obstacle courses need 34 to 52 ft of length and 12 to 13 ft of width. Each rental listing shows the exact space it needs.
Can a bouncy castle be set up on pavement or indoors?
Yes. On grass we anchor inflatables with steel stakes. On asphalt, concrete or indoor floors we use sandbags or water bags, which cost extra. The surface must be level and clear of debris, with enough overhead clearance for the unit.
What power does a bouncy castle need?
You need a standard electrical outlet within 50 ft of the setup area. Jumbo Jumps supplies the blower and a 50 ft extension cord. Water slides, the Mega Mansion and the 47 ft obstacle course need two separate circuits. If your site has no power, we can arrange a generator for an extra charge.
Do I need a TSSA-licensed bouncy castle for a backyard party?
No. Ontario's amusement devices regulation (O. Reg. 221/01) doesn't apply at a private home when the inflatable is used only by the people who live there and their guests. At schools, churches, parks, businesses and public events, the operator needs a TSSA licence and each inflatable needs its own TSSA permit. Jumbo Jumps is licensed by the TSSA.
Do I need a permit to put a bouncy castle in a park?
Usually, yes. Most GTA cities require a park permit for inflatables. Many also ask for TSSA documents and $5 million in liability insurance that names the city. Brampton and Oakville don't allow staking in parks, so weights are used instead. Check with your city's parks or events office before you book. Jumbo Jumps can provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI).
What happens if it rains on the day of my rental?
If high winds, heavy rain or thunderstorms are forecast, you can reschedule your Jumbo Jumps rental at no charge up to 24 hours before your event. If you cancel at least 7 days before, your deposit is refunded in full.
How many kids can be in a bouncy castle at once?
Manufacturers generally recommend about 5 to 6 kids of similar size at a time in a bounce house, and one rider at a time per slide lane. An adult should supervise the inflatable at all times.
Can you put water on a regular bouncy castle?
No. Only use water on inflatables built for it, such as Jumbo Jumps' Wet N' Dry slides and combos. Wet rentals need an outdoor tap within 25 ft of the inflatable.
How far in advance should I book a bouncy castle?
Book as soon as your date is set, especially for June, July and August weekends. In Ontario, search interest in bouncy castles peaks in June and July, so popular units and dates go first. Spring and fall dates usually have more availability.
Which areas does Jumbo Jumps deliver to?
